The meaning of the word transylvania is "the land beyond the woods" and the country is just as mysterious as its name. Located submontane the Carpathian Mountains and in the middle of Romania the seven "circles" of Transylvania were mainly inhabited by the Siebenbürgen Saxons of German descent.
